A Teddy Bear, A Pink Hat, and 6 Prayer Beads
Last night, I slept on a bed of prayer beads!
So okay, I have that teddy bear I got as a birthday gift about 6 years ago. I’m not a fan of stuffed animals in general, but it was a gift and I didn’t know what to do with it. I have to say it looked kinda cute; a brown teddy bear with soft thick fur that usually covers its brown eyes. It wore a navy blue t-shirt with the word “FRIENDS” written over it. So like I said, I didn’t know what to do with it and I don’t throw things away. I called it Joey Tribbiani! Chandler is definitely my favorite, but it looked too dumb to be called Chandler and I’m not a Ross fan so I wouldn’t call it that.
Anyhoo, Mr. Trib. is usually found somewhere in the corner of my bed. Neglected as it always is, it always looked so sad!
Two years ago, I found a pink hat that used to belong to me when I was four years old. I liked it. I decided to keep it around. Since I didn’t know where to keep it close enough to be in my reach whenever I “needed” it, I decided to put it on Joey Tribbiani’s head. So Now Mr. Trib wears a pink hat and he definitely looks more cheerful.
In the last two years, A LOT of people I know have been going to Mecca for ‘Omra. And every time one of them gets back, they bring me prayer beads! Honestly, I don’t use them. I like how some of them look but I just don’t use them. Some of them were gifts from special people, and some of them were beautiful, so I didn’t want to just put them anywhere…
I didn’t know where to put them, so I hung the ones I like the most around Joey’s head! So now my Joey Tribbiani wears a pink hat and 6 colorful prayer beads. One is amber red, one is blue-purple, one is brown (wooden beads), one is violet, one is pale-pink (to go with the hat), one is goldish-yellow, and one is emerald-green; a big mess of totally non-matching colors.
So now Mr. Trib is not only ugly and cheerful, he looks like a dervish. A teddy-bear Dervish that goes by the name of Joey Tribbiani! I liked him more that way though; it was like a big confused celebration of different cultures.
Yesterday my nephew was playing with the beads around Joey’s neck. He tore apart the blue-purple one. I only knew later, so the beads had already spread all over the bed, under the pillow, and in the cover. After I disposed of the string that used to bind the beads together, I was too lazy and tired to look for all the blue-purple beads and throw them away. So I just threw the ones I saw and decided to go to sleep.
Of course I found a few while tossing and turning in bed, but I wouldn’t get up to throw them so I just moved them away and pretended they were nothing.
So, last night I dreamed that all the beads around Mr. Trib’s neck were cut loose and spread all over my bed, and that there were thousands and thousands of them all over the bed sheet and that I slept over them.
They weren’t comfortable though, so I think that’s why I woke up around 4:20 AM for absolutely no good reason… sat up in bed… and thought for a minute if I should clean up the bed properly. Of course I was still too lazy, I mean I hardly talked myself into getting up to pray the Fajr prayer since I’ve heard it anyway, but to actually turn on the lights and make sure there aren’t any loose beads on the bed??? That’s asking too much from a sleepy girl!
Hmm… so if you’re wondering if there’s a point to this post… there isn’t. I just felt like rambling!
Good day!

I was thinkin’ while reading this post how professionally written it is. maybe that’s because of so much editing work, but it was really so very well-written. I wonder if you can tell it vocally as interesting as you did here.
